QuickBooks utilizes many components such as the Microsoft .NET Framework which is a Microsoft component. To provide you with features and tools, QuickBooks has to integrate with such components.

If your Microsoft .NET Framework is damaged or if it is missing, follow the steps that are given below to resolve the errors or issues.

Repair Or Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework

Solution 1: Download and Run The QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool

The QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool is programmed in such a way that it can automatically diagnose any ongoing issues with your Microsoft .NET Framework, MSXML, and C++. We highly recommend that you use the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool before you start making any changes manually to the Microsoft component.

  • In the first step, you have to download the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool on your computer.
  • Save the file on your local drive when you the prompt on your screen.
  • To speed up the installation process, close any program which is running in the background and then open the QuickBooksDesktopInstallDiagnosticTool.exe.

Note: It will take approximately 30 minutes for the installation of the tool. The time taken by different computers will vary as the speed of execution of tasks depends upon the configuration of the computer and speed of Internet connection.

  • Once the diagnostic has completed, restart your computer to make sure proper update of components.

Solution 2: Update Windows to the latest release

If you are still getting the same error on your desktop, then download and install Windows Updates. Install missing updates related to .NET Framework, MSXML, and C++.

  • On your keyboard, press the Windows key.
  • Type “Windows” Update in the search bar.
  • Choose “Check for Updates.”

Solution 3: Manually Repair .NET Framework

Follow these steps if you are using Microsoft Windows 10, 8.1 and 8 version

  1. Open the Runwindow on your screen by pressing the keys Windows+R simultaneously.
  2. Now, you have to type “Control Panel” in the box and hit enter on your keyboard.
  3. In the new window that just opened on your screen, click on Uninstall a Program and then click on Turn Windows features on or off.
  4. Make sure that .NET Framework 4.5or later (7) is enabled.
    • If the box for .NET Framework 4.5or later is not marked, click on the box to mark it. Click on OK and then reboot the computer.
    • If .NET Framework 4.5or later is already enabled then we will repair .NET Framework. To do that first we have to clear the box and then reboot the computer. After the reboot, re-enable .NET Framework and reboot the computer again.
  5. Make sure that .NET Framework 3.5 SP1is enabled.
    • If the box for .NET Framework 3.5 SP1is not marked (not filled in), click on the box to enable it. Click on OK and then reboot the computer.
    • If .NET Framework 3.5 SP1is already enabled then we will repair .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. To do that first we have to clear the box and then reboot the computer. After the reboot, re-enable NET Framework and reboot the computer again.

Follow these steps if you are using Microsoft Windows 7 version

  1. Make sure that .NET framework 3.5 SP1is enabled.
    1. Open the Run window on your screen by pressing the keys Windows+R simultaneously.
    2. Now, you have to type “Control Panel” in the box and hit enter on your keyboard.
    3. In the new window that just opened on your screen, click on Uninstall a Program and then click on Turn Windows features on or off.
      • If the box for .NET Framework 3.5 or later is not marked, click on the box to mark it. Click on OK and then reboot the computer.
      • If .NET Framework 3.5 or later is already enabled then we will repair .NET Framework. To do that first we have to clear the box and then reboot the computer. After the reboot, re-enable .NET Framework and reboot the computer again.
  1. Make sure if .NET Framework 4.5or later (7) is already installed on your computer.
    1. Open the Run window on your screen by pressing the keys Windows+R simultaneously.
    2. Now, you have to type “Control Panel” in the box and hit enter on your keyboard.
    3. Click on Uninstall a Program.
      • If Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 or later shows up in the list, proceed to Step 3 to repair it.
      • If Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5 or later does not show up in the list, proceed to Step 5 to install it.
  1. Repair .NET Framework 4.5or later (7).
    1. Choose Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5or later in the  then Programs and Features window and then click on Uninstall/Change.
    2. Click on Repair followed by a click onNext.
    3. Follow the instructions on your screen and make sure to restart your computer after repairing .NET framework.
      • If repair completes successfully, open QuickBooks or try to install the program again.
      • If an error occurs during repair or the repair does not fix the issue, move on to Step 4 to uninstall .NET Framework.
  1. Uninstall .NET Framework 4.5or later (7).
    1. On the Programs & Features window, choose Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 or later.
    2. Click on Uninstall followed by a click on Next.
    3. Follow instructions on your screen to uninstall the application, then restart your computer.
    4. Proceed to Step 5below to reinstall it.
  2. Install .NET Framework 4.5or later (4.0 Client and Extended built in).
    1. Download .NET Framework 4.5 or later which is available on the Microsoft’s website.
    2. Save the file on your computer.
    3. Run the file by double-clicking on it and then follow the instructions on your screen.
    4. Restart your computer once the installation process is done.
